Chris Baker is a tax director in the firm’s London office with over 20 years’ experience in expatriate tax practices in the United Kingdom.

Over his career, he has developed an in-depth understanding of the complexities of U.S. tax for Americans living abroad and the ever-increasing burden of reporting this imposes on them. Chris primarily focuses his efforts on private clients, advising and providing tax compliance for individuals and families. He addresses their income tax position, as well as gift and estate taxes, looking to mitigate global tax exposure through the U.S. domestic rules and provisions of applicable tax treaties. He has assisted clients to become compliant with their U.S. tax filings through the, now ended, Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program, the ongoing streamlined filing procedures, and the relief procedures for certain former U.S. citizens. Often he is called on to advise on the expatriation rules for citizens and for lawful permanent residents looking to manage their residence status.

Additionally, Chris offers planning for non-Americans moving to the United States and for nonresident aliens with U.S. sourced income and sited assets.
